Pine Raiders back to winning

FRANKLINTON, La. Pine Raiders defeated Jewel Sumner Cowboys in District 7-3A action Thursday night. The Raiders started with the opening kickoff, and by the end of the first quarter, the Cowboys managed to equalize the score at 7-7. 

However, the Raiders took the lead at halftime, leading 14-7. During the third quarter, Jewel Sumner scored, but a blocked extra point left them trailing 14-13 as they entered the final quarter. A catch by DJ Garrett extended the Raiders’ lead to 21-13. The game concluded with one last drive by the Raiders, securing a 28-13 victory.

Offensively, Von Johnson carried the ball 17 times for a total of 96 yards and a touchdown. James Owens rushed for 110 yards on 14 attempts and a touchdown.  Luke Spears completed 6 out of 7 passes for 62 yards. Garrett emerged as the top receiver, with 4 receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. 

Christian Williams led the defense with 10 tackles.  Ethan Rester also made a significant impact with 9 tackles.  DJ Garrett showcased his versatility with 5 tackles and an interception.  And Ethan Ryals contributed with 8 tackles.

The Pine Raiders are gearing up for their final district game this Friday against Bogalusa at Lewis Murray Stadium.
