In a major development in the Louisiana-Mississippi manhunt, local law enforcement is intensively searching for Jakob Carnegie after a high-speed chase across state lines. The pursuit, which is a critical part of the manhunt, began in Mississippi on December 12, 2023, and crossed into Louisiana via the Pearl River Bridge on Highway 10.

Initially, Carnegie, behind the wheel of a black Nissan Sentra, fled following a Mississippi drug bust. Consequently, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office seized 7 lbs of marijuana.

Responding to this, Washington Parish Drug Task Force Detectives in Bogalusa quickly moved to intercept Carnegie at the junction of Highways 21 and 10. He then sped north on Highway 21, reaching over 100 mph.

The chase ended near Benard Crain and Highway 62, where Carnegie lost control of his vehicle. Later, authorities found the car abandoned in a nearby field, but Carnegie had escaped.

Various law enforcement units, including the Rayburn Correctional Center K9 team, joined the search efforts. Despite their extensive efforts, Carnegie remains at large, a key concern in the ongoing manhunt.

Moreover, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office has charged Carnegie with multiple felonies, including Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Felony Fleeing, and Drug Trafficking. Additionally, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for Aggravated Flight from an Officer.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report any information on Carnegie. Public safety is a priority, and the search continues across Louisiana and Mississippi.
