The Bogalusa Police Department is investigating an early Saturday morning homicide in which a 16-year-old was killed. A 15-year-old has been arrested.

The department said officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of Union Avenue.

“On arrival, a 16-year-old juvenile was located and was observed to be deceased, from an apparent gunshot wound,” the department said.

A 15-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property; illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile; and failure to seek assistance.

Significant new details have emerged that resulted in the arrest of two more juvenile offenders.

Additional arrests are expected, the department said.

“Crimes of this magnitude are a tragedy and shake a community to the core,” Acting Assistant Chief Troy Tervalon. “We are still actively investigating many more details of the crime and more information will be forthcoming.”
