Wednesday, May 8—Lumberjacks Food Outlet held their grand opening today at 9 am. Owners Ron and Mandy Feske acquired the supermarket, formally known as Food Outlet, nearly a month ago and have worked tirelessly to remodel and rearrange the space over the last few weeks.
City Officials and local business owners attended the Grand opening, which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, cake-cutting, and a guest appearance by the Bogalusa High School Lumberjacks band. Mayor Tyrin Truong and Parish President Ryan Seal were in attendance, and both congratulated Ron and Mandy on their expansion.
Store manager Billy Penton came on board 3 years ago at Food Depot, and said that he is looking forward to working under new ownership. “It’s going to be great for the community. Ron and Mandy really have the community in mind and I’m excited to work with them moving forward.”
City Council Vice President Mark Irvine said, “Congrats to Ron and Mandy for investing in Bogalusa and giving the city a clean and well-maintained place to shop. I wish them many years of success.”
Ron and Mandy have been busy since the acquisition, changing the displays and décor and reimagining the supermarket. They said that the changes were about 90% complete, and that everything should be finished by the end of the week.
One of the biggest changes is dropping the old 10% surcharge and lowering prices overall for shoppers. They also plan to incorporate closeout and discount sections moving forward, providing their customers with a wide range of goods and prices under the same roof.
Ron and Mandy also own Travis’s Supermarket across town, and plan to scale up their success there to the new, larger footprint while maintaining the same hometown feel and competitive pricing.
