Sis. Myrtis Vaughn

Sister Myrtis Burkhalter Vaughn was born to Lafayette Burkhalter and Denie Reed Burkhalter on Feb. 14, 1922. She was the eighth child born to that union. Her Heavenly Father called her home on Tuesday evening at 3:59, Feb. 24, 2015, at home.

She leaves to chrish her memories four nieces, Deborah (Roosevelt) McNeil of Lewisville, Texas, Tina (Roy) Hooker of Paramount, Calif., Sherryl (Craft) Jackson of Bogalusa and Norma Harvey of Franklinton; seven nephews, James Washington of Mobile, Ala., Ralph (Stephanie) Washington of Florida, Alphonso (Audrey) Burkhalter of Miami, Kenneth (Cynthia) Burkhalter of Little Rock, Ark., Tony (Pat) Burkhalter of Charolotte, N.C., Lucious (Rosena) Brumfield of Lafayette and George Palph Wrought of Pasadena, Calif.; 31 great-nieces and -nephew; 39 great-great-nieces and -nephews; five great-great-great-nieces and -nephews; and a host of friends and church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Vaughn Jr.; her parents; nine siblings; and seven nieces and nephews. This marks the end of a generation.

The funeral service will be Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Plainview Church of Christ Holiness in Mt. Hermon, with Elder Albert J. Brumfield Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Plainview Church Cemetery. Crain and Sons of Franklinton is in charge of arrangements.
