Richard Earl Simmons Sr., 65, born June 2, 1947, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Franklinton.

He leaves to cherish his memories his two daughters, Carla Simmons of Mount Hermon and Tammy Simmons of Las Vegas, N.V., and one stepdaughter, Barbara James of Hammond; one son, Richard Earl Simmons Jr. of Houston, Texas, and two stepsons, Byrm Conerly of Dallas, Texas and Shadrick Dillon of Houston; three sisters, Mable Simmons of Kentwood, Wilene Francis of Birmingham, Ala. and Gloria Jean Lewis of Amite; one brother, Willie Simmons Jr. of Franklinton; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13 at Crain & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Franklinton from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday at Magee’s Temple Church of God In Christ at 2 p.m., with Supt. Cecealine Tate, pastor, officiating. Internment will follow at St. James Cemetery.
