BRELAND

Wilda Mae Breland, 88, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.

She was born in Henleyfield, Miss., on May 5, 1925, and was the owner and operator of the Needlecraft Nook on Columbia Street for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Struppeck and Deanna (Mike) Dugan; a brother, Ray Mitchell; four grandchildren, Heith Higgins, Maegan Struppeck, Sarah Dugan Melancon and Natalie Dugan; one great-grandchild, Hudson Higgins; three step-grandchildren, Aline Struppeck, Bobby Struppeck and Rusty Struppeck; eleven great-step-grandchildren.

Her husband, M. L. Breland Jr.; her parents, Charley Mitchell and Donna Harvey Mitchell; and one sister, Irene Mobley, preceded her in death.

Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 1 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5:30-9 p.m.

Visitation continued on Saturday at Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until time for services at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Tom Dolph and Dr. Alan Einsel officiating. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.
