Carey A. Alford, age 79 anda resident of Bogalusa, was born on Dec. 5, 1934, and passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

He was a retired dairy farmer and feed and seed salesman. He worked different areas in farming and loved being a cattleman.

He is survived by his wife, Nannette J. Alford; one daughter, Stacey (John) Halley; one sister, Mary Frazier; two grandsons, Peyton Halley and J.J. Halley and Holly; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, his dog, Dixie, who traveled everywhere with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Willene Alford; and a brother, Virgil Alford.

A private graveside service was held on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Ponemah Cemetery at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Hollingsworth officiating.
