Sister Pecola Green Hartley was born July 2, 1927, to the late Rev. and Mrs. Henry Green and departed this life on Sept. 18, 2014, at age 87. She was a native of Varnado.

She lived and worked in Chicago for many years and returned home and moved to Bogalusa in the 1980s.

She is survived by two sons, Jackie Fortenberry (Carrie) of Bogalusa and Glen Fortenberry (Mecedes) of Longview Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine Butler; a very special person, Laura Alexander; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Tree of Life Baptist Church. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., and the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lorenzo Masgee officiating. Interment will be in Robinson Cemetery in Varnado.
