Ruth C. Kennedy

Ruth Crain Kennedy, age 86 and a resident of the Stateline Community, died at 8:21 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was a member of Stateline Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in her Sunday School class. Ruth was a former bus driver for the Washington Parish School Board, and she enjoyed her time driving young people to Southeastern. She was also a beautician at Heritage Manor nursing home for many years. Ruth was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Pine Chapter No. 226 and loved traveling, often to the mountains. She adored her family and often rocked the youngest and new babies. Ruth took great care of her family and cherished their time spent together.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Tami Seal of Bogalusa; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Louise Pittman and Dail Pittman of Nashville, Tenn., and Denise McKenzie of Stateline; five grandchildren and spouses, Brannon and Beverly Pittman of Newton, N.C., Donna and Charlie Chastant of Franklinton, Brandi and Joel Sims of Gallman, Miss., Bridgett and Gordon Cliburn of Strong Hope, Miss., and Yvette and Keith Holmes of Tylertown, Miss.; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Pittman, Bryce Pittman, Seth Pittman, Avery Pittman, Macie McKenzie, Daylon McKenzie, Caleb Miller, Kaden McKenzie, Taylor Barrett and Case Cliburn; four great-great-grandchildren, Autumn Pittman, Josie Pittman, Sawyer Barrett and Tatum Barrett; four sisters, Nella Corkern of Metairie, Mary Borde of Bogalusa, Willene Adams of Crossett, Ark., and Wilda Bufkin of Bogalusa; a brother, Shelton Crain of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Olen Seal and Bryce Kennedy; a son, Richard L. Seal; her parents, Robert Willis Crain and Lutie Knight Crain; grandsons, Dusty McKenzie and Ricky Seal; a son-in-law, Donald Bruce McKenzie; sisters, Verlie Breland, Agnes Ard, Patsy Lou Crain and Vera Kennedy; and brothers, Woodrow Wilson Crain and Carl Ray Crain.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Glen Nace and Eld. Clyde Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the Seal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bryce Pittman, Bryan Seal, Brannon Pittman, Roger Crain, Keith Knight and Brian Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Crain, Bill Kennedy, Butch Bufkin and Lewis Breland.
