Two Franklinton seniors are receiving a big honor.

Offensive lineman Adrian Magee and defensive back Josh Magee are heading to Shreveport to play in the Louisiana High School Coaches’ Association/Louisiana Football Coaches Association All-Star Game Dec. 20 in an East versus West battle.

Both players, who will be playing for the East, had solid seasons to cap off their high school careers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Adrian Magee, an LSU commitment, was part of an offensive line that helped the Demons run for 2,877 yards and 48 touchdowns. The line also gave starting quarterback Michael Wilson and second-stringer Tajh Magee time to throw for 1,826 yards with 14 touchdowns. Wilson got the bulk of the playing time and finished with 1,714 yards and 11 scores.

Josh Magee went into the team’s semifinal game against Neville, having made 29 stops, 24 of them solo tackles. He also made one for a loss. Magee tallied six passes defensed and was tied for the team lead with Martavius James and Percy Briggs at three interceptions.

Magee also forced two fumbles, recovered two and scored a team-leading three defensive touchdowns.

“Obviously I’m extremely proud,” Franklinton coach Shane Smith said. “It’s an honor having those two guys representing Franklinton in Louisiana football. You’re talking about guys with multiple scholarship offers.”

This season was a special one for the Demons. Franklinton began the year with a 2-1 record. After a 41-20 loss to Brother Martin, the Demons ran off 10 consecutive wins and reached the Class 4A state semifinals.

In the semis, the team lost to Neville, 32-8, capping off a 12-2 season.

Franklinton is 22-5 over the two years.

In the five setbacks, three of those teams have gone on to the finals, and the other two made it to the state semifinals.
