Isaiah 40:31

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”

Gloria M. Middleton Alford Hyde lived a rich life of 80 years, leaving us on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, to be with her Lord Jesus Christ.

Gloria was born on Feb. 25, 1934, in Bogalusa to Roy and Zoe Middleton. She was the older sister to her brother Jimmy Middleton, now deceased. Early in her life as a mother, she was a Blue Bird assistant leader alongside Mrs. Flo Adcox Magee, leader. Her love of children extended to her church, First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, as she worked as a GA teacher for many years. She also served as church clerk for a number of years. She was a member of Jackie Strange’s Sunday school class, which she enjoyed so much. Her love of her Lord was visible to everyone she met and was instilled in her children very early in life.

She worked many years with Sears and Roebuck then moved on to spend many years working for Doctors Crooks, LeMaire, Scoggin and Hortman and finally with the Bogalusa School Board office. She retired from working in 2004, enjoying working in her home and yard and spending lots of time with her children and grandchildren.

For the last year and four months she had the pleasure of living at New Country Living in Carrier Miss. She was lovingly and tenderly cared for by a most compassionate and amazing staff. She was happy there and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by a son Walter Greg Alford (Jo Ann) of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Donna Sue Crain (Donnie) of Bogalusa; stepdaughters, Shereen Hyde Marx, Lisa Hyde Murray and Sydney Etta Hyde Crain; three grandchildren, Chad (Monica) Crain, Jennifer Crain Seal (Rand), Amy Jones (John) and Rachel Harrer; four great grandchildren, Austin Chad Crain, Breelyn Jennifer Seal, Ally Jones and J.M. Jones; and a special friend, Mrs. Joyce Penton.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Roy “Jimmy” Middleton; and her parents, Roy and Zoe Hennesey Middleton.

Visitation was held in the chapel of Brown McGehee Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, and funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014. Burial was in Ponemah Cemetery, with the Rev. David Easterling Officiating.

Pallbearers were Aaron Middleton, John Jones, Rand seal, Justin Crain, Jason Crain and Eddie Catha.

She will live on in the hearts of her family, who loved her dearly and treasured every moment spent with her. She will always be sadly missed. She was truly the “Wind Beneath Our Wings”

“See you in the morning.”
