Janet Mary Gay McDaniel passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old.

Although she grew up in Bogalusa, she raised her family primarily in Metairie and recently returned to the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Bogle Gay and Lucy Belle Gay; and her brother, James Earl Gay.

Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her beloved husband of more than 50 years and high school sweetheart, Kendal Don McDaniel; her son, John Keith McDaniel and wife, Debbi; her daughter, Gay Lyn McDaniel Curlin and husband, David; and four grandchildren, Ryan Keith McDaniel, Lindsey Nicole McDaniel, Christian David Curlin and Emily Catherine Curlin. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. McDaniel was a very special, loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be privately held at a later date.
