WASHINGTON PARISH, La. – In a community-centric initiative, the Washington Parish Library has teamed up with Keep Louisiana Beautiful to offer litter cleanup kits available for public checkout. This innovative program aims to address local litter issues by providing residents with the necessary tools to keep the community clean.

Available exclusively at the Bogalusa Branch, located at 304 Avenue F, and the Franklinton Branch at 825 Free Street, these kits are part of a broader effort to encourage community involvement in environmental preservation. Each kit, funded by a grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, contains one trash picker, two safety vests, and several garbage bags, empowering residents to take direct action in maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings.

The initiative caters to individuals seeking to fulfill community service hours as well as those independently motivated to contribute to a cleaner environment. The checkout process is streamlined and user-friendly; kits can be borrowed for one week and are renewable once with a valid Washington Parish Library Card.

Sonnet Ireland, Director of the Washington Parish Library, encourages community members to leverage this resource to enhance the beauty of Washington Parish. “This is more than just a cleanup effort; it’s about fostering a sense of pride and responsibility towards our environment,” said Ireland.

By providing these litter cleanup kits, the Washington Parish Library and Keep Louisiana Beautiful are making strides towards a cleaner, more sustainable community. Residents are invited to partake in this initiative and contribute to the betterment of Washington Parish, one checkout at a time.
