Ovett Branch, 78, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 in Brookside Rehab – Bogalusa.
Born September 4, 1945 in Tylertown, Mississippi; he was the son of Ottis Branch and Wilda Stogner Branch. He leaves his wife, Patricia Adams Branch and one son, Adam Ovett Branch.
Ovett graduated from Bogalusa High School, Class of 1963 and attended Southeastern Louisiana College. He joined the United States Air Force in October 1966 and served 4 years, with one year in Vietnam. After his time in service, he joined the family business, Branch Masonry Company.
Later he started his own masonry company, Ovett Branch Masonry. You can see his brick work all over Washington and St. Tammany Parish.
Every October a group of friends that had been in his life for many years got together for a long weekend of fun and good fellowship. They would travel from all over the south to go to the camp for this special time together. So much love and friendship in this special group, he loved each one and had contact all year planning the next time together.
Ovett was one of the founding members of MCCA; a member of Mardi Gras group RoogaRoo; and the American Legion for over 50 years.
He was married 56 years to Patricia and had one son, Adam. He also leaves behind a brother Vernon Branch (Sandra); sisters-in-law Claudia Carr and Martha Fauntleroy (Sam); nephews, Lane Branch, Deran Branch (Kim), John Carr (Lydia), Michael (Jenny) Fauntleroy, Jody Adams, and, Jason Adams; nieces, Sheret (Kevin) Luper, Libby (Lester) Mitchell, Tammy Dearth, and Melissa (Derek) Behren; a host of great-nephews, nieces and cousins. Also, a very special friend Aleta Jacobs Spears, and, her daughters Isabella and Sophia.
Preceding him in death are his parents, father and mother-in-law Joe and Mathilde Adams; brothers-in-law, Joel Adams and Vernon Carr.
Pallbearers will be John Carr, Michael Fauntleroy, Zach Mitchell, Jacob Mitchell, Deran Branch and Edwin Harper.
Visitation will be held at Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church (510 Avenue B, Bogalusa, LA, 70427) on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm (Noon). The funeral service will begin promptly at Noon. Reverend Tim Lawson will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Veteran’s Section of Ponemah Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed by the Magic City American Legion Post# 24.
