Bogalusa High School Athletes Shine at LSU Indoor Track Meet

A team of spirited students from Bogalusa High School (BHS) made their mark at the high-profile indoor track meet held at Louisiana State University (LSU) on Saturday, January 6, 2024. The event, a showcase of young athletic talent, witnessed a commendable performance from the BHS contingent, known as the Jacks.

The team, comprising a mix of grades and specializations, was managed proficiently by sophomore Ariyanna Brown, whose organizational skills played a pivotal role in the team’s preparedness and morale. Under her guidance, the athletes demonstrated remarkable prowess in various track and field events.

Freshman sensation Myijalon Mark took on the challenge of both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter high hurdles, showcasing agility and speed that belied his years. His performance was a highlight of the event, drawing attention from both spectators and fellow athletes.

Sophomore Sha’keize Jefferson, another rising star, competed fiercely in the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter low hurdles. Her athleticism and determination were evident, as she navigated the hurdles with remarkable precision and speed.

Senior Ciearra Gibson, a versatile athlete, took part in the shot put and the 60-meter dash. Her strength and agility were on full display, earning her accolades from the audience and her peers. Her performance in both events was a testament to her hard work and dedication to athletics.

Tabias King Jr., another standout athlete, showcased his endurance and speed in the 400-meter run and the 60-meter high hurdles. His ability to maintain a balance of speed and technique in both events was impressive, highlighting his potential as a versatile track and field athlete.

Rounding out the team was senior Gregory Brown, who competed in the shot put and the 60-meter dash. His strength in the shot put and agility in the sprint made him a dual threat, demonstrating the depth of talent within the BHS team.

The BHS students’ participation in the LSU indoor track meet not only highlighted their individual talents but also emphasized the school’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence.
