Mr. Charles W. Magee, 83, a resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 5, 2023.  Charles was born on December 16, 1939, to Luby Magee and Mary Magee.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States National Guard and retired from the Gaylord Box Factory in 1999, after 35 years of service.  He also worked in various aspects of employment but was a sample maker upon his retirement.

Charles was a Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church member, where he used his God-given abilities to play the keyboard in service to his Master.  He also tickled the ivories of the baby grand at St. Tammany Parish Hospital every Thursday for several years, even playing a few songs only three days after his open-heart surgery.  Charles was known throughout Washington and St. Tammany Parishes and Pearl River County for his willingness to share his talent at many birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings at different venues, as well as Rest Haven Living Center and Pearl River County Nursing Home.  The solace of his Floyd Cramer style of music brought comfort to many in their times of need.

Charles is survived by his wife, Becky Seal Magee; sister, Sarah (Mike) Terry; daughters, Celia Sumrall Myers and Tammy Magee Williams; and his sons, Terry (Maria) Magee and David (Debbie) Magee; and daughters, Leah Seal Cowart and Lynn Seal Asbury.  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Luby and Mary Magee; his wife, Ava Jean Sumrall Magee; a brother, Ronald Magee; and two sons, Jack Sumrall and Mark Magee.

Mr. Charles’ family would like to thank the staff of Pulse Home Health and Therapists, Schultz Therapy, St. Tammany Hospice, Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church, and Bethel Baptist Church for all their loving kindness and help during his lengthy illness.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.  and will continue on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service at 1:00 P.M.  Interment to follow at Ponemah Cemetery with graveside rites performed by the American Legion Magic City Post #24.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Charles’ family requests that donations be made to Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church.
