This is part of the Meet the Candidate series for the upcoming elections.
The candidate featured here is Malinda Brumfield White who is running for Washington Parish President.
Why did you decide to run?
The soul of our Parish is our people. I’m running because I love our people. For me, service to our families has been a lifelong calling. The experience I gained as a State Representative has prepared me to be the very best leader for our parish. I know how to connect the dots at the local, state, and federal levels. I’m a finisher. I’m running to bring more safety, prosperity, and success to every corner of our amazing Parish.
What is your occupation/current employer?
I’m proud to say I already work for every family in our area working to keep taxes low and bring millions home to invest in roads, bridges, broadband, public safety, job training, child care and education. My boss is “you.” I’m inspired by the work ethic, resiliency, and compassion I see in our communities
What makes you the right choice?
I’ve lived what many of our families live. I know your hearts. I know your struggles. I see a brighter future that is more unified than ever. I’ll be the leader we need to make Washington Parish an extension of the economic boom we’ve seen to the south and west, by showcasing what is best about our communities. Every role I’ve played in public and private life has prepared me to lead us now.
What do you want to accomplish if elected?
As parish president, I’ll be laser-focused on building our economy through support for our local businesses, job and educational opportunities and improving public safety. I want us to remain one of the lowest taxed areas of the state that can attract employers who enhance community, schools, and law enforcement to show our children they never have to leave Washington Parish they can have the life we all dream they will.
