Landon Blakeney’s inspiration for the poster came from his family’s tradition of collecting fair posters. “I saw my family collecting them all my life, so I figured I could make one for them to collect,” he shared. The media used for the poster mainly consisted of markers, reflecting Blakeney’s unique perspective on the fair. “Growing up around the fair and all the different aspects of it that I saw. It’s very representative of what I think of the fair,” Blakeney explained.

Blakeney is a freshman media and entertainment art student at the University of Southern Mississippi. His passion and creativity have been evident in his work, and his latest achievement comes after numerous other posters he designed have been selected to represent festivals and events. The Washington Parish Free Fair kicks off this week and will continue into the weekend, with Blakeney’s poster front and center.
