This is part of the Meet the Candidate series for the upcoming elections.
The candidate featured here is Sarah Cook who is running for Washington Parish President.
Why did you decide to run?
I am seeking this office because I believe it is time for conservative leadership in the parish’s highest executive office. I love Washington Parish. My desire is to see our parish flourish for our children and grandchildren, so that they may work, live and raise their families here.
What is your occupation/current employer?
I currently serve as the Council Clerk for the Washington Parish Government.
What makes you the right choice?
An in-depth understanding of every aspect of Washington Parish Government makes me the right choice. Nine years of intensive participation has allowed me to become thoroughly familiar with the Home Rule Charter, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations for Washington Parish. As a liaison between the citizens and their council, I have firsthand knowledge of what the public expects from parish government. I am the only candidate who can assume the office of Parish President without a lengthy learning curve.
What do you want to accomplish if elected?
My strong background and knowledge of the Washington Parish Development Ordinance have enabled me to suggest improvements for various areas of the parish. I firmly believe in making strategic choices pertaining to hiring practices based on qualifications, solid employment backgrounds, and character.
I treasure the small-town, rural community values, and close-knit personal connections that Washington Parish offers. Working closely with the public and raising my family here has made me acutely aware that we must broaden our vision for economic growth. We must develop a stronger focus on expanding educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities for the continued growth and success of our younger citizens. To stay in touch with the needs of our older population, we must actively work to create a more secure, caring environment.
I will continue to provide honest, effective, efficient and respectful public service. As Parish President, your voice will be heard. We will work together to reform and revitalize Washington Parish in a transparent manner, ultimately cultivating a better future for all of us. My proven record of initiative, leadership, cooperation, organizational skills and commitment enables me to serve Washington Parish well. Professional. Proven. Prepared.
I ask that you vote #80 Sarah Cook for Parish President on October 14 2023, for reliable results and accountability.
