Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This is part of the Meet the Candidate series for the upcoming elections.

The candidate featured here is John Wyble who is running for State Representative, District 75

Why did you decide to run?
I am running for State Representative, District 75 because I believe Washington Parish needs more jobs and economic opportunities to keep our children and grandchildren at home. I want to put my many years of experience and record of success as an advocate to work for a better future for Washington Parish and Louisiana. My experience in workforce and economic development, education reform, access in rural areas to healthcare and concerns for hard-working families and taxpayers of rural communities will serve our parish well. I believe we have a real opportunity to finally reverse generations of bad decision-making and bad government.

What is your occupation/current employer?
Chief Executive Office of an organization whose mission is to advance and improve literacy. I am also the Founder and President of Leadership Concepts by Dr. Wyble

What makes you the right choice?
My legislative experiences and career record of 30+ years of delivering results. While my opponents have talked about what they plan to do, I’m proud to share some of the results I’ve delivered. As president of the Washington Parish School, I spearheaded the effort to increase teacher and support staff payback in May 2022. Well before others decided to turn a crisis into a talking point, I led the charge while others were silent. We increased transparency for parents and taxpayers, restored responsible budgeting, and expanded preschool opportunities for young learners while also expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities for high school students.

I understand firsthand what it will take to reform regulations, improve our economy, and fight so hard-working families can keep more of their hard-earned dollars. We must address workforce concerns and then work as a region to attract well paying jobs and responsible business partners as we also prioritize the needs and challenges of those businesses already here in Washington Parish.

I am experienced and prepared to begin work on the first day.

What do you want to accomplish if elected?
By reforming regulations, rules and our complicated tax structure, while focusing on improving the skill base of our workforce, we can create an economy that helps our current businesses and attracts new business opportunities. I will take on those bad actors in insurance and hold them accountable as we work to decrease skyrocketing insurance costs. We need a strong economic foundation that provides opportunities for everyone.
