Pine held a basketball camp from June 12-15, as children took the opportunity to learn more about basketball.
“We just do our annual camp every summer for the community and for the kids even out of the community,” Pine coach Brett Cooper said. “We’re working on the fundamentals of basketball to get a good foundation for them. They can take it home with them, practice and hopefully they come back every year to get better-and-better.”
Some of the skills campers worked on were fundamentals of passing, dribbling, defense and they did some shooting.
The 4-8-year olds attended in the morning, while those the 9-14s went in the afternoon.
The camp had 65 participants.
This is the fourth camp Cooper has hosted at Pine.
“I look forward to it every year. You get to see the youth we have around the community and watch them grow from year-to-year. I enjoy it. I enjoy watching them play association using those skills,” Cooper said.
Cooper’s staff included a combination of Pine girls and boys basketball players along with Pine assistant coach Brett Spears and Pine softball coach Stephanie Sumrall.
