Franklinton’s Skylar Branch has been selected to play for USA America’s Team.

“I was on a college watch list,” Branch said. “I played travel ball like my whole life. A bunch of schools had seen me play and they selected me out of a bunch of girls to go play in Barcelona.”

Branch, who will be a senior next season, is the only player from Louisiana who was selected.

“When I got selected, I thought it was kind of fake,” Branch said. “I was thrilled this was happening. I get to play a sport I love in a different country. This sport has opened up so many doors for me. I am blessed that God gave me the ability to play this sport.”

This will be Branch’s first trip outside of the country.

“I’m nervecited. I’m nervous and excited. There’s so much building up in me,” Branch said.

Branch will play in Barcelona from July 10 to 18. They will play eight games against eight different country.

Branch plays pitcher and both corner infield positions for Franklinton. She will play pitcher and hit for USA America’s Team.

Branch was a first-team all-district player this year. She struck out 218 hitters.
