Bogalusa’s Holloway, Gibson reach state

Bogalusa’s Caitlin Holloway and Ciearra Gibson made it to the state meet after coming in second place in their events at the Region 3-3A Meet that was held on Wednesday at Jewel Sumner.
Holloway came in second for the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 1 inch. Academy of Sacred Heart in New Orleans’ Vivian Real won at 16-2.75.
GIbson was second in the discus with a throw of 93-1. Patterson’s Dechyla Davis won at 104-8.
Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier. The top three from each event made it to state. The Class 3A state meet is May 5 at Bernie Moore Track on the campus of LSU.
Bogalusa and Pine are the only Washington Parish teams in Region 3-3A.
In order to compete in regionals, athletes had to come in the top four of their events in their district meet.

Bogalusa’s 4×100 relay team was fourth in 52.34 seconds. The team had Gibson, Holloway, Sha’Kezie Jefferson and Ja’liahia Crumedy. E.D. White won in 50.74.
Holloway was fifth in the shot put at 29-7.25, as Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Academy’s Rayonna Rusell won at 32-2.75.
Gibson came in sixth for the 100 in 13.15, as Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Academy’s Amairi Ashford won in 12.22.
Bogalusa teammates Jefferson and Serenity Jackson ran seventh and ninth for the 300 hurdles in 59.07 and 1 minute, 2 seconds. Real won in 49.25.
Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team was 10th in 1:55. The team had Gibson, Jackson, Jefferson and Crumedy. E.D. White won in 1:46.
