Bowling Green’s Burford is going to state

Bowling Green School’s Zeke Burford is going to the state meet after his performance in the South State Meet on Wednesday at Silliman Institute.
Burford came in third place in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 0 inches. Copiah Academy’s Darion Moore won at 19-9.5.
Wednesday’s meet included field events and the 3,200 meters. The rest of the track events are being held on April 29 at Silliman Institute.
The top four from each event are headed to the Class 5A state meet.
The state meet’s field events and the 3,200 will be on May 5 at Jackson Academy. The rest of the running events will be on May 6 at Jackson Preparatory School.
In order to reach state, the athletes needed to come in the top four at their district meet.
Bowling Green School was the only school from Washington Parish in the meet.
Bowling Green had one more athlete compete on Wednesday.
Josiah Miller was seventh in the shot put at 36-6.25. Madison of St. Joseph High School’s Robert Clark won at 44-1.75.
