Franklinton’s Dufrene, Arguelles, Landry reach podium at state

Franklinton’s Angel Dufrene, Evelyn Arguelles and Tayte Landry made the podium at the Division II state championships that were held on Friday at the Cajundome that is located in Lafayette.
Dufrene competed in the 97-pound weight class and posted a 165 squat, 100 bench and 185 deadlift for 450 total. Grant’s Kaylee James won the title with a 560.
Arguelles, who lifts in the 220+ weight class, lifted 915 pounds of total weight. She squatted 400, benched 155 and deadlifted 360 for the 915. Pitcher’s Daige Love, who was the outstanding lifter for 165-220+ weight classes, won the title with an 1,140.
Landry was third in the 181s with a 720 total. She squatted 300, benched 135 and deadlifted 285. Lutcher’s Malaya Mitchell won with an 850 total.
Marleigh Schilling was fourth in the 132s with a 735. She squatted 275, benched 145 and deadlifted 315. Lutcher’s Lexi Simon won with a 760.
Arielle Magee came in fifth for the 220s. She squatted 275, benched 185 and deadlifted 330 for a 790 total. Lutcher’s Mikayla Forsythe won with a 1,065.
Emma Cooke was 10th in the 148s with a 640 total. She squatted 260, benched 115 and deadlifted 265. Lutcher’s Blair Ursin won with an 875.
Also competing for Franklinton was Bella Duplantis (114).
Franklinton tied Tioga for fourth in the team competition with 19 points, but had more second-place finishes, which allowed them to win the tiebreaker with 21 teams competing.
Lutcher won the title with 68 points.
Grant was second with 32, followed by North Desoto’s 24, as Franklinton and Tioga rounded out the top five.
