Franklinton goes 3-0 in Jewel Sumner Tournament, Mt. Hermon defeated in 2 games

Franklinton’s softball team went 3-0 in the Jewel Sumner Tournament and then won its two games after that, while Mt. Hermon was topped in both games of the event and against Franklinton on Monday.
The Jewel Sumner Tournament was held March 10-11.
Franklinton’s first game of the tournament was an 11-10 win over Jewel Sumner on March 10.
Shyanne Burris went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Rayanna Schilling posted two hits, two RBIs and a run scored.
Syler Branch singled twice.
Karlie Lord singled twice and drove in a run.
Amaya Robertson singled, scored a run and drove in a run.
Heaven McNeese and Audrey Carter both singled and scored two runs.
Kaydan Ard singled and scored a run.
Aayah Faour scored two runs and drove one in.
Franklinton played twice the next day and defeated Hammond and Maurepas.
The game against Hammond was 8-1.
Branch homered, singled, drove in four and scored a run.
Burris homered, drove in two and scored a run.
Faour singled twice and scored two runs.
Carter singled, scored a run and drove one home.
Schilling, Ard and Robertson all singled and scored a run.

Branch went the distance allowing no earned runs on one hit with 17 strikeouts and three walks.
Franklinton defeated Maurepas, 11-5.

On Monday, Franklinton defeated Mt. Hermon School, 22-12, in six innings at home.
Branch went 6-for-6 with five extra-base hits. She doubled three times, tripled twice, drove in six runs and scored five runs.
Lord posted four hits, four runs batted in and two runs scored.
Schilling went 3-for-5 with a double, five RBIs and four runs scored.
Burris singled twice, drove in a run and scored two runs.
Faour doubled and scored four runs.
Carter singled with two RBIs and a run scored.
Ard singled with an RBI and a run scored.
Robertson singled and scored three runs.
On Tuesday, Franklinton started District 8-4A play with an 18-1 victory over Salmen in four innings.
Schilling singled and doubled with five RBIs and two runs scored.
Turnage homered, singled, drove in two and scored two runs.
Burris singled with an RBI and two runs scored.
Ard singled with two runs batted in and a run scored.
Faour, Branch and Lord all scored three runs, while McNeese scored two runs.
Branch pitched the four innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Mt. Hermon School was defeated in its two games of the tournament that were played on Saturday.
Mt. Hermon School lost to Vidalia, 17-5, and to Salmen, 20-18.
Franklinton’s next game is March 15 against St. Scholastica Academy at home. Mt. Hermon’s next game is on March 16 against Varnado at home.
