Pine splits 1st 2 games of season

Pine’s softball team went 1-1 through its first two games of the 2023 season that were held on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s game was a 10-0 loss to Covington in six innings on the road in the opener.

Kirbee Magee singled for Pine.

The next day, Pine defeated Mt. Hermon School, 15-0, in three innings at home.

Bailey Brooks singled, drove in four runs and scored a run.

Magee recorded two hits that included a double and two runs scored.

Kori Sumrall singled and scored three runs.

Katie Crain doubled, scored a run and had a run batted in.

Addyson Phelps scored two runs and drove one home, while Alyssa Phelps drove in two runs and scored a run, Bailey Dunn scored a run and drove in a run, Dillon Sumrall, Lily Crain and Madyson Dunn all scored a run.

Pine plays in the Acadiana Tournament that will be on March 3-4, while Mt. Hermon will play again on March 2 against Loranger on the road.
