Pine’s boys basketball team was defeated by St. Helena College and Career Academy, 61-53, in the bi-district round of the Division III state playoffs.
Luke Spears led Pine with 17 points that included a 3-pointer.
D.J. Garrett posted 11.
Kendall Fountain recorded 10.
Nathan Martin tallied eight that included two 3-pointers.
Zach Thomas posted six.
Ahvon Johnson had one.
No. 23 Pine went 13-13 this season.
No. 10 St. Helena College and Career Academy (18-14) defeated No. 15 Amite (13-16) in the regional round, 68-57 and played against second-seeded French Settlement (28-4) after Friday’s press time.
