Bowling Green wins in first round of South State

Bowling Green School’s Peyton Dupuy scored 22 points, as the Lady Buccaneers were victorious over Central Hinds Academy, 61-46, in the opening round of the South State Tournament on Tuesday at Central Hinds Academy.
Dupuy went 9-for-11 from the girls and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Dupuy pulled down two rebounds and dished out an assist.
Bailey Devall posted 15 points on 4-of-8 from the field with four boards, three assists and two steals.
Chloe Bertrand recorded 13 points on 5-of-7 from the field and she made all three of her 3-pointers. Bertrand also had two assists.
Kenli Reid posted eight points on 3-of-4 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Reid grabbed two rebounds and posted six assists.
Claire Varnado had two points and a rebound.
Claire Wascom tallied a point, two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
For the game, Bowling Green shot 68.8 percent from the field (22-of-32) and they made two thirds of their 3-point attempts on 8-of-12.
Bowling Green will play in the second round against Copiah Academy on Friday at 5:15 p.m. at Central Hinds Academy.
