The Lady Demons came up short in a 5-0 contest at home on Dec. 16 versus Covington.
“We tell our girls all the time not to look at the scoreboard,” Franklinton coach Matthew Hughes said. “Our commitment is to the process, not the outcome. Conventional wisdom says that numbers don’t lie, but the fact of the matter is that they don’t always necessarily tell the truth either. We lost 5-0, but played one of our best games of the year.”
Hughes said that he was so proud of our girls and the way they competed
“We have come a long way in such a short period of time,” Hughes said. “We possessed the ball well, we communicated better, our touches are improving, our shapes are cleaner… there are any number of positive things I could point to.”
Hughes said that Kaylee Ard played perhaps her best game as a Lady Demon in that game.
“I was so proud of her,” Hughes said. “Bailey Burdette did some excellent work, both offensively and defensively. Brooklyn Pedersen competed like a champion. I could’ve specifically mentioned several girls and I am proud of the entire group, but those girls elevated their level of play in a special way.”
On Monday, Franklinton was defeated by St. Thomas Aquinas, 7-0, on the road.
Franklinton’s next game will be Jan. 4 against Haynes Academy at home.
