Pine wins both games at Franklinton Tournament

Pine’s Lady Raiders captured both of their games at the Franklinton High School 2022 girls basketball tournament that was held Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.
Pine began the tournament with a 50-39 victory over Hammond on Dec. 1.
The next game was a 54-17 win over Franklinton.
Samantha Thomas scored a game-high 14 points.
Dillon Sumrall recorded 12 points.
Madison Morgan posted eight.
Jalayia Lee tallied six.
Addyson Phelps had five.
Ana Kate Thomas put up three.
Bailey Brooks logged two.
Jailynne Webb topped Franklinton with nine points.
Annsley Brown posted eight points that included a 3-pointer.
Aviya Brown had two.
Franklinton posted a 1-2 record.
Franklinton started the tournament with a 53-8 win over Varnado on Dec. 1.
Aviya Brown led the way with 14 points.
Webb and Annsley Brown both recorded 10.
Lyllain Boughton posted six.
Alyssa Bickham, Jasiya McClain and Jazirya Roberts all had four.
McKaylah Martin added one.
Varnado’s Myeshawn Fox had four points.
Shunti Williams recorded three on a 3-pointer.
Eliza Seals tallied one.
After the setback to Pine on Dec. 2, Franklinton was defeated by Loranger, 49-20, the next day.
Martin scored 10 points to lead Franklinton.
Annsley Brown tallied six.
Aviya Brown had three.
Webb posted one.
Varnado lost its two games.
The first was a 48-2 setback to Hammond on Nov. 30.
The next contest was the loss to Franklinton the next day.
The all-tournament had four local players that include Franklniton/s Aviya Brown and Annsley Brown and Pine’s Alyssa Phelps and Sumrall.
Loranger’s Madison Ackerman is the Most Valuable Player.
Hammond’s Jamaria Daniels is all tournament.
Mt. Hermon School was defeated by Loranger, 47-39, in its only game that was held on Nov. 30.
Pine’s next game will be Dec. 5 against Loranger on the road.
Franklinton will play again on Dec. 5 against St. Helena College and Career Academy at home.
Mt. Hermon will be back in action on Dec. 6 against False River on the road.
Varnado plays again on Dec. 6 against Jewel Sumner on the road.
