The Tulane Green Wave football team made history earlier this week.
Tulane is in the top 25, as the Green Wave is 25th in the Associated Press and AFCA polls.
It is the first time since the 1998 season that the Green Wave is ranked. That year, Tulane went 12-0 and went to the Liberty Bowl where they defeated BYU, 41-27.
This season, Tulane is 6-1 overall and 3-0 in American Athletic Conference play.
Tulane has a local player on the team in freshman running back George Arata.
Arata, who graduated from Pope John Paul II last school year, is from Bogalusa.
This season, Arata has run three times for 12 yards.
Tulane’s next game will take place on Oct. 22 against the University of Memphis, as the Green Wave celebrates homecoming.
The game will start at 2:30 p.m. and the contest is on ESPN2.
