Bowling Green School is on the road on Friday night, facing Columbia Academy in a District 4A4 contest in the final regular season game of the 2022 year.
Bowling Green is 3-6 overall and 1-1 in league play this season.
The Buccaneers are 10th in powerpoints in Class 4A.
“If you win the ballgame, you secure a playoff spot. If you lose, who knows? You’re either going to be the last team or the next to last team if you lose,” Bowling Green coach Phill Junkins said. “You could be from 8 to 10 if you win. We just need to win and go get the best seed we can. We just need to win and let the playoffs fall where they fall.”
Bowling Green comes off of a 42-13 loss to Oak Forest Academy last week.
Josiah Miller ran for 102 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns.
Kyron Cowart had 62 yards on nine attempts on the ground.
Defensively, Russell WIlson made six tackles.
Camrin Seal posted four stops.
Junkins said that Bowling Green and Columbia Academy are very similar.
“It’s going to come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes,” Junkins said. “Going on the road and playing in this league is a task. We’ve got to play well defensively. We’ve gotta play better than we have the last two weeks. We’ve gotta get Kyron and Josiah going early.”
Columbia is 2-7 overall and 0-2 in league play. Columbia was defeated by Wayne Academy, 37-12 last week.
