Bowling Green School was defeated by Tri-County Academy, 49-0, in a road game that was held on Friday.

“We played about as poorly as you can play and they’re really good,” Bowling Green School coach Phill Junkins said. “It’s a combination of the two things. We’ve turned our focus to Brookhaven Academy. (Tri County) started 14 seniors and we had, for the most part, three sophomores in the secondary and there’s a difference between a senior and a sophomore. We didn’t play well up front and it had nothing to do with desire or effort, it had to do with technique and when you play a team that good, you have to do things well technically and ultimately. That’s a poor job on my part as the head coach and we’ll do things to correct that this week.”

Bowling Green is 1-1 this year, while Tri-County Academy is 2-0.

Bowling Green will play again on Friday when they face Brookhaven Academy. Brookhaven Academy is 1-1 this year after defeating Central Holmes Christian School, 40-14.

“We’ve got Brookhaven Academy this week,” Junkins said. “Solid football team and it’s the first district game. We’ve gotta worry about us. They’ve got a quarterback that can run and some receivers that are good athletes. We’re going to have to play well to win on the road. We’re going to have to play well in order to win.”
