FHS Basketball Summer Jam
The inaugural FHS Summer Jam 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will take place at Franklinton High School’s Gym on July 30.
The event is being held to support Franklinton’s basketball program.
The competition will begin at 10 a.m. and feature two age divisions — 13-18s and 19 and over — and prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
The entry fee is $100 per team.
Fans are welcome to attend and admission is $2 per person.

Franklinton Soccer registration is upcoming
Franklinton Soccer Club registration is holding in-person sign ups on Saturday, July 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist in Church in Franklinton. Players will have a chance to try various uniform sizes. This is for new players only.

The deadline for registration is Aug. 8.

Late fees will apply after that and uniforms will not be ordered after Aug. 8.
Practice will start the week of Aug. 29. Practice days and times will depend on the coach.
Games will be played on Saturdays from Sept. 10 through Nov. 5.
There will be no games or practices on Labor Day Weekend or the week of the fair.
Also, the Franklinton Soccer Club now has parking passes.
The parking pass costs $8.
Those who have the parking pass may carefully pass the line of waiting cars and show it to the gate worker instead of waiting to pay $1 each Saturday to park. These will also be available to purchase at the concession stand.

Sports Works Academy Camp is on Saturday
The 15th annual Sports Work Academy Basketball camp will be returning to Bogalusa this year under the direction of former Bogalusa All-District performer Michael Galloway and former LSU and Portland Trailblazers star Nikita Wilson.
Galloway is a 1985 Bogalusa High School graduate.
The camp will take place at the Ave B YMCA on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
Galloway said they have confirmed the return of Coach O’Brian Calahan, founder and head Coach at Only Basketball Elite, a top tier sports program that teaches aspiring athletes the foundational skills to excel. Calahan attended Jonesboro Hodge High School, where he was an all-state performer and district MVP. Calahan went on to play at Alcorn St. and Tennessee Temple University.
Galloway said there are several additional coaches that they are in discussion with and they will provide updates once they confirm.
Murrell Galloway, who is a 1987 Bogalusa High School graduate, will return as the coaches captain.
Registration for the camp will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants can pre-register by contacting Michael Galloway at 678-458-3326.

Pearl River Community College Softball Camps
Pearl River softball coach Christie Meeks has finalized the Wildcats’ slate of summer camps.
The Wildcats have two camps left this year for children of all age groups.
The last High School Team Camp will be July 19-21. Teams will stay in dorms and eat in the school cafeteria. The clinics will include team building sessions with a rope course. The camps include a shirt, meals and dorm. The fee is $200 per player.
The Prospect Camp is Aug. 13 for seventh to 12th grade. Drills are from 9 a.m. until noon and games start at 2 p.m. The cost is $70.
