Franklinton’s Wascom, Pine’s Cooper are all-region

Two local players made the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Region Team for the 2022 season.

Franklinton’s Micah Wascom and Pine’s Chase Cooper are all-region players in Region 10, which includes Washington Parish, East Feliciana, St. Tammany less non 5A select and Livingston non 5A.

Cooper was the District 9-2A MVP, while Wascom was a co-MVP in District 9-4A with Lakeshore’s Eli Lirette.

This season, Cooper, who made the team at utility, posted an 8-1 record with a 1.67 earned run average. Cooper tallied 114 strikeouts and just 16 walks in 58-2/3 innings.

At the plate, Cooper hit .463 with 15 doubles, four triples, 29 runs scored and 26 runs batted in. Cooper reached base at a .591 clip.

Wascom posted an 8-1 record this season with a 1.11 ERA. Wascom posted 94 strikeouts and just 23 walks over 57 innings. Wascom had a 0.84 WHIP (walks plus hits divided by innings pitched) and kept opponents to a .125 average against him.
