Coppin State starts play in the regionals on Friday

Coppin State University is headed to the Greenville Regional.
Coppin State will play its first regional round game against East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.
The game will be on Friday at noon.
The event is a double-elimination tournament.
The winning and losing team from Friday’s game will play the winning and losing team from the other match up in the regional that features Coastal Carolina University going against the University of Virginia. That game will be on Saturday. The losing teams will play at noon, while the winners will compete at 6 p.m.
The regional will wrap up either Sunday or Monday.
Coppin State comes into the regional with a 24-28 record, while East Carolina is 48-18. Virginia enters with a 38-17 mark and Coastal Carolina is 36-18-1.
Friday’s game can be seen on ESPN+.
Coppin State has a pitcher, who graduated from Bowling Green School in Tim Ruffino.
Ruffino graduated from BGS in 2019.
This season, Ruffino, who is a sophomore athletically, is 4-2 with a 3.66 earned run average in nine games that spans five starts. Ruffino has 26 strikeouts and 17 walks in 32 innings.
He has been injured since mid-April.
