Bowling Green School’s Joey Dupont qualified for state at last Wednesday’s 2022 Class 5A South State at Silliman Institute.
Dupont made it to the state meet in the high jump after clearing the bar at 4 feet, 10 inches. Oak Forest Academy’s Genevieve Carmichael tied St. Joseph Catholic School of Madison’s Rayne Worshim, as both were at 5-0. The tiebreaker is fewest misses, so Carmichael won and Worshim came in second.
Last Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four from each event are headed to the Class 5A state meet. The Class 5A state meet will be held on Friday at Jackson Academy. Bowling Green School was the only school in Washington Parish in the meet.
Silliman Institute won the meet with 82.5 points, as nine teams posted points.
St. Joseph Catholic High School of Madison was second with 50, followed by Oak Forest Academy’s 47, Columbia Academy’s 40.5 and Cathedral Unit School had 28 to round out the top five. Bowling Green came in ninth with three points.
