Plenty of Demons are going to regionals

MANDEVILLE — Plenty of Franklinton athletes are headed to regionals after qualifying in the District 9-4A Meet that was held on Wednesday at Lakeshore.

The Demons posted 13-second-place finishes.

Kelly Daniels, Sebastian Magee and Andrew Crain were all second in two individual events and all four of Franklinton’s relay teams came in second.

The Demons team was also second with 65.5 points. Franklinton was the only team from Washington Parish in the meet.

Salmen won the meet with 137.5 points.

Pearl River was third with 47, while Lakeshore came in fourth at 30.

Daniels was second in the 100 meters and 200 with times of 11.19 seconds and 23.86.

Kollin Williams came in fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.62 and Brendan Williams was sixth in the 100 at 11.98. Salmen’s Jaylin Williams won both events, running the 100 in 11.19 and the 200 at 23.17.

Magee was second in both hurdle events with a 17.43 for the 110s and a 47.23 in the 300s.

Christiun Martin came in third for the 300 hurdles at 48.52 and fifth in the 110s in 20.22. Salmen’s Jack Robertson topped the two events after running a 16.90 in the 110s and a 46.19 in the 300s.

Crain was second for the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 5 minutes, 27 seconds and 12:33.

Jeremiah Jones came in sixth in the 1,600 at 5:50. Lakeshore’s Alexander Babin won the events with a 5:15 in the 1,600 and an 11:41 for the 3,200.

All four of Franklinton’s relay teams were second. The 4×100 team ran in 44.91, while the 4×200’s time was 1:34, the 4×400 clocked in at 4:26 and the 4×800 team had a 10:47. The 4×100 and 4×200 teams had Zion Anders, Daniels, Timarion Partman and Williams. The 4×400 team featured Anders, Partman, Martin and Magee. The 4×800 team had Jackson Bickham, Jakobie McCormick, Ahmod Partman and Jeremiah Jones. Salmen won all four relays with a 44.61 in the 4×100, 1:34 for the 4×200, 3:56 in the 4×400 and a 10:05 for the 4×800.

Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four from each event are headed to regionals. The Region 3-4A Meet will be held on Tuesday at West Jefferson High School.

Jeremiah Jones, Jakobie McCormick and Kendarius Brumfield were all second place in an event.

Jones was second in the 800 after running the race in 2:32.

Crain came in fourth with a 2:36. Salmen’s Sidney Stokes ran a 2:26 to win.

McCormick tied Salmen’s Williams for second in the high jump as both cleared the bar at 5-8. Salmen’s Brandon Acker won at 5-10.

Brumfield was second in the javelin with a throw of 137-9.

Justyn Miller came in fifth at 90-3. Pearl River’s Gabriel Whittington won at 140-4.

Wyatt Lambert and Martin are headed to regionals after coming in fourth.

Lambert was fourth for the discus with an 82-8. Salmen’s Tzar Dubuclet won at 90-4.

Martin came in fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 37-7. Salmen’s Jayden Hardison won at 42-7.5.

Ahmod Partman and Brendan Williams ran fifth and seventh in the 400 with times of 1:01 and 1:07. Salmen’s Markel Keys won with a time of 55.27.
