Frenchie Mae Foster was born to Eunice Groce on Feb. 25, 1948, in Lincoln, Ala.

Frenchie received all of her education in Lincoln. She moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in the 1960s. She retired from Hughes Aircraft. She was a member of New Congregational Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. L.M. Jones, where she was a member of the choir.

Frenchie loved working with her hands and caring for others. She loved doing crafts, doll making, decorating, sewing and cooking. She loved listening to the blues.

In 2004, Frenchie moved to Angie with her husband Andrew and oldest granddaughter Quanita. She didn’t let this new city stop her from finding her way around. Frenchie and Quanita (Shug) would jump in the car and go, and before she knew it, she knew her way to Covington, Franklinton and Mississippi.

Frenchie was a people person and would talk to anybody. She loved people! She also gained employment in her new hometown. She worked for Dirt Cheap and Pride and Hope.

Frenchie loved her family. She loved being a grandmother to her eight granddaughters and a great-grandmother to her eight great-grandchildren.

Frenchie leaves to cherish memories: her husband, Andrew Foster; three sons, Michael, Anthony and Mario (Wendell); one brother, Jerry Lane; one sister, Hazel; eight granddaughters, Quanita, Lanae, Marquinn, Markeisha, Kapri, Amunique, Ashley and Ahlijah; eight great-grandchildren, Barry IV, Khloe and Zoe, Xia’mor, Mii’Lia, Mii’Aisa, Jontay, D’iajah and Mi’Dareon; one special daughter-in-law, Tanya (Anthony); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eunice; a daughter, Belinda Faye; sisters, Floretta, Joyce, Maize and Doris; and brothers, Charles (Bill Bo), Dallas, Joe, James, Julian and Melvin.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, at noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Muse officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home.
