Mt. Hermon School’s Alexis Magee has signed a letter of intent to attend Louisiana College and to play softball for the Wildcats.
“I actually got multiple offers these past few months, but I scheduled a tour of Louisiana College with coach (head coach) Barry Roberts,” she said.
Magee said that once she met Roberts and toured the school, she knew she wanted to make Louisiana College her home for the next four years.
Magee talked about what made her decide to choose Louisiana College.
“I knew that coming from a small school like Mt. Hermon, I knew it would be a big adjustment going to a university and Louisiana College had that small-town feel in Pineville and it felt like home,” Magee said.
Magee plays third base and pitches for Mt. Hermon. She is going to college for third base. Last year, she was a first-team all-district infielder.
In the circle, Magee threw a perfect game and two no-hitters.
At the plate, Magee hit .500 with a homer, 32 runs batted in with 14 doubles and two triples.
“Alexis has great drive that has allowed her to always excel on and off the field,” said Grace Magee, who is Alexis’ mother and also the Mt. Hermon softball coach. “She has a great heart and never gives up.”
Alexis Magee plans on double majoring in criminal justice and psychology.
Magee has a 4.04 grade-point average and she made a 30 on her ACT.
“Ever since I was little, I’ve excelled (in academics),” Magee said. “They’ve gotten me to where I am today and it’s been a huge drive in my success.”
