The Southern Miss football team transitioned to shoulder pads and shorts for its third practice of the spring Wednesday morning on the game field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
The Golden Eagles worked out during the morning hours and, despite the early February practice, saw the temperatures rise in the low 70s for the workout.
“It was great to get the pads on and I can’t wait to get in here and watch the film to see what it looks like,” said Southern Miss second-year coach Will Hall. “Saw some guys making plays (out there today). I saw Jason Brownlee make a lot of plays and Ty Keyes was really sharp early on. It is hard for me to single out anyone as we just went 100 reps in pads for the first time.
“I liked the energy and thought it was hotter than normal. We dwindled a little bit late, but that is to be expected when it has not been hot like this than it is. We are blessed, will watch the film tomorrow, lift and workout and get after it again on Friday.”
Despite the hotter than normal weather, the Golden Eagles still provided a crisp 2-hour, 20-minute workout as the Golden Eagles continued to put in their concepts for next season in all three phases of the game.
