Xander Hamilton, App State

Mountaineers sophomore right-handed pitcher Xander Hamilton held a nationally-noted Campbell club to a single hit and no runs through 6.1 innings in his App State debut. The transfer from Virginia Tech tallied 10 strikeouts in the victory, tying the most by a Mountaineer hurler since 2013. The Raleigh, N.C., native held opposing batters to a .050 batting average—carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning—before surrendering his lone hit to 2022 Big South Preseason Player of the Year Zach Nieto.

Connor Kimple, Louisiana
(Sr., OF – Whitefish Bay, Wis.)
Ragin’ Cajuns senior outfielder Connor Kimple hit .500 (5-for-10) and slugged 1.400 on the opening weekend of the 2022 season. The Whitefish Bay, Wis., product homered in all three games to open the season, propelling Louisiana to a series win over No. 14-ranked UC Irvine. Kimple registered three runs scored and six RBI, while becoming the first Ragin’ Cajun since Hunter Kasuls in 2019 to homer in three-straight games.
