Softball Player of the Week
Taylor Roman, Louisiana
(Fr., 1B, Missouri City, Texas)
Ragin’ Cajuns’ freshman first baseman Taylor Roman produced a team-leading three triples and eight RBI as Louisiana posted a 5-0 mark on opening weekend of the 2022 season. Roman, who had four of her six hits over the weekend go for extra bases, batted .462 and slugged 1.154 in her first weekend back returning from a 2021 season-ending injury. Her three triples and slugging percentage led all Sun Belt players in the first weekend of the season. Roman picked up at least one hit and posted at least one RBI in all four appearances. She posted a triple in three consecutive games to start the season. The highlight of the weekend was a triple, home run and four RBI in Louisiana’s dominant 23-0 win against UAB last Friday. On Saturday, she had the big hit in the four-run third inning that put away North Texas when she laced a two-run triple to center field.
