On Feb. 7, 2022, Mr. Clyde Woodward Sr., 95, a resident of Angie, passed away in Columbia, Miss. Mr. Woodward worked at the paper mill for 38 years, advancing from laborer to superintendent, but was a life-long farmer here in Washington Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and loved his grandchildren. Mr. Woodward was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944, but medically discharged after the discovery of a rare kidney disease that gave him the life expectancy of less than 10 years in 1946.

He is survived by his only son, Clyde (Tommye) Woodward; three grandchildren, Christopher (Catherine) Woodward, Sonya (Robbie) Gates and Jodie (Jim) Gasquet; three great-grandchildren, James “Jay” F. Gasquet IV, Jackson Numa Gasquet and Jillian Elizabeth Gasquet; one brother, Stevie Woodward; one sister, Elizabeth Woodward Williams; and a host of other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Estelle Singley Woodward; his parents, Thomas H. and Edna Hicks Woodward; and two brothers, Lavern Woodward and Lavon Woodward.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. at Bonnie Cemetery in Angie, with Bro. Kenny Peavy officiating.

The pallbearers will be Christopher M. Woodward, James Gasquet IV, James Gasquet III, Jack Gasquet, Robbie Gates and Tommy Joe Woodward. Honorary pallbearers will be Jodie Gasquet, Sonya Gates, Jillian Gasquet and Ed Smith.
