Tommy Nedow won the men’s shot put and weight throw while Kristian Jackson won the women’s weight throw and placed second in the shot put for the Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team Saturday at Ralph O. Ward Rec Complex.

Nedow, the reigning Southland Conference indoor shot put champion, won the shot put by over two meters with a mark of 6.66m (54 feet, 8 inches). The sophomore also claimed the weight throw title Saturday throwing 17.90m (58-8.75).

Jackson took home the weight throw title on the women’s side throwing 16.43m, 53 feet, 11 inches. The Zachary, Louisiana native then finished runner up in the shot put with a mark of 14.48m ((47-6.25)

“I was impressed with the whole group today,” said SLU track and field head coach Corey Mistretta. “It was especially a good day for the throwers, mainly Tommy and Kristian. Brett Olsen (SLU first year throws coach) has done a great job with that group and it showed today. But now it’s time to go back to work and keep preparing for the indoor championships.”

Southeastern will be in action at University of South Alabama Invitational Sunday, 6th at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
