App State’s Allesch earns Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week distinction

App State graduate transfer Alexia Allesch averaged a double-double with 18.5 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game last week. She is this week’s Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Allesch, a Basking Ridge, N.J., native, notched back-to-back double-doubles in App State’s two conference wins this past week. She played 35.5 minutes per game over the two-game stretch.

In the Mountaineers’ victory against 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champion Louisiana, Allesch registered 14 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. In their win against ULM, she charted a career-high 20 points and 16 rebounds. In the fourth quarter alone, Allesch totaled nine points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal.

On the season, Allesch has five double-doubles – four of which have come in her last five contests. In conference games only, she ranks sixth in the Sun Belt in scoring with 15.5 points per game and fourth in rebounding with 10.3 boards per game.
