Little Rock’s Jackson, UTA’s DeBerry earn Sun Belt Men’s Track/Field weekly honors

Little Rock’s Cameron Jackson and UTA’s Bryson DeBerry each turned in impressive early-season performances and have been named Sun Belt Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Cameron Jackson, Little Rock
(So., Sprints, Kilgore, Texas)

Trojans’ sophomore sprinter Cameron Jackson opened the 2021-22 indoor season with the Sun Belt’s fastest 60-meter dash time and its third-best 200-meter mark. His 6.74 time in the 60m at the Woo Pig Challenge in December ranks 43rd nationally as he claimed top honors among a field of Power 5 runners. He then returned in January to post a time of 21.53 in the 200m. Jackson ranks 43rd in the nation in the 60m and 44th in the 200m. Jackson was the 2021 Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Bryson DeBerry, UTA
(Gr., Jumps, Plainview, Texas)

Mavs’ graduate student jumper Bryson DeBerry opened his season this past weekend at the Ted Nelson Invitational with a second-place finish in the high jump. His mark of 2.18m/7-1.75 currently ranks third in the nation.
