Troy’s Leggett garners Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades

Troy junior forward Amber Leggett averaged a double-double, leading her squad to a trio of wins, and is this week’s Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Leggett averaged 20.3 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game to direct the Trojans to victories against UAH, Mississippi State and South Carolina State. She registered a pair of double-doubles on the week.

Leggett opened the week with 29 points and 10 rebounds against UAH. She shot 65 percent from the field in the game and also charted two steals.

Competing in the Mississippi State MTE this weekend in Starkville, Miss., Leggett totaled 13 points and 15 rebounds in a win against Mississippi State before following that up with 19 points and nine boards vs. South Carolina State.

Troy’s win against Mississippi State marked the Sun Belt Conference’s fourth this season against a Southeastern Conference opponent. It also was Troy’s first victory vs. a Power Five opponent since the 2018-19 campaign.
